I wish the proliferation of print on demand meant that we could have books available in a variety of form factors as per our taste, but instead it seems to mostly mean more and more books are printed in bad form factors because it's easier to do print on demand on them.

I don't think the book that prompted this thought process is actually print on demand, it's just got the sort of form factor and print quality I associate with it.
