Last week Singaporean ministers said that “we have to learn to live with this virus” and “covid will be endemic.”
Now it looks as though they may be turning back: channelnewsasia.com/singapore/covi

This is a fascinating (and frustrating) development. My statistically savvy friends pointed out weeks ago that “endemic” and “we will learn to live with it” means “we will let 5000 people die” (assuming a 0.001 death rate).

I thought that perhaps the government understood this, and that they would have the stomach for it. (Presumably 5000 deaths could be handled if spread out?)
But it now seems that they don’t have the stomach for it. And I can’t blame them. But patience is wearing thin.
