I was legit blown away by this, when Tasshin told me about it in a call. I think we do this intuitively in meatspace — we learn to avoid people who make us feel bad. And so why not apply that to Twitter/social media/the web? The key is to pay attention to how you feel.

this applies to social media, too. how do you feel when you read/listen to/watch what someone shares, when they interact with you? do you feel good in your body? do you come away energized? if not, why not? do you need to do something differently?

I cast my net wider on the virtual space (asynchronous ones) because 1) it's easier to process and decide how I would respond and 2) I don't want to limit the filter bubble by blocking sources with pov I disagree or uncomfortable with.

Oh yeah I felt the blowback and stayed away from social media for some time last year. Only beginning to regain the mental bandwidth and appetite. Still I don't regret the "curation". It serves me well under "normal" circumstances.

I have also struggled with mental health vs. 'not getting sucked in a bubble'. Currently my approach is to first decide if the topic serves my top goal in life right now. If not, THEN the criteria Cedric shared applies. If it does, then the mental angst may be worth it.
