Daily writing for today was the community guide for my discord server. I won't publish the link in public for now, but I'll put it up at some point later.

It seems weirdly common for me to have longstanding irritations that are solvable pretty much as soon as I think about them for a few minutes and then try to solve them. I'm not sure what's up with that, but it seems worth keeping an eye on.

Most people can be fine at most things given the right support, but instead when kids struggle with a subject we tell them that it's their fault, causing them lasting shame around it and making it harder for them to improve. This seems like a bad plan.

Today is another day where my main public writing task was to work on the community guide, but actually I guess I'm happy to share it more broadly now.

Existing complex systems are a great source of insight because they do a lot and they, for better or for worse, actually work, so you can learn a lot from studying them in detail.

When making a plan, first decide what counts as "good enough" and make sure you're going to hit that. It takes a lot of the pressure off and you can now put as much effort into making it better as you decide you want to.

People are really committed to believing that they can't solve their problems when the reality is that they are choosing not to. Choosing not to is 100% fine, but maintaining a lie that certain problems are unsolvable hurts people who want to solve them.

I'm slightly misusing the term here because it's normally more about comebacks and witty retorts, but I think it fits.
And thanks, glad you like it!
