Well, that’s literally the definition of a career moat. (Hiring good salespeople is fun).

"Agencies are great but internal corporate recruiters are basically lazy, so why not build an internal agency?"
And then he actually did.

A concept that's currently fleshing out in my head is something like "network bootstrapping". Hiring great salespeople is probably easy if you know great salespeople, because they all know each other, but the initial process of attaching to the network is a mystery.

I started noticing that this was a thing with trade people. E.g. it's literally impossible to find a good plumber unless you already know someone who knows a good plumber.

Bad ass.
I have a friend who's quite senior in an ad agency whose favourite boast is that he's never written a CV or had to put together a portfolio in his life.
He's a cool guy and a good friend, so it makes his boast funny not assholey.

Been in TA space for 20 yrs; practitioner (sales recruiter) & enterprise SaaS (TA tech) & I'm an excellent *sales* person w/numbers to prove it, but don't have people banging on door. Not everyone good exists within Passive channels. Most talent is literally hidden in my exp. 🙏
