Something that's always bothered me: product validation frameworks (Lean Startup, etc, but mostly Lean Startup) usually talk about the methodology like the methodology is the thing. But I've often found that product taste is just as important.

Product taste is tacit, and so it doesn't get talked about as much. Here's a throwaway paragraph in Working Backwards, for instance, on Amazon's PR/FAQ process: (It *does* seem like it runs on the backs of 'people who've done it before, doesn't it?)

Corollary: if you attempt to copy the process without putting in place experienced people, the people with good product taste, odds are pretty good that you'll fail.

Definitely agree with the assertion. The thing about taste in a product setting is people want to be taught it and often don’t actually want to have it. You need to actively start seeing why things are good/bad. Takes effort. Reminds me of this piece.

Do you have a list of product taste articles? I'm asking because my follow-up piece to this is going to be a collection of links that I've collected over the past decade, and I'm always looking for more.

My big pet peeve - I can't agree more with this. I probably interviewed 100 organizations and did a thousand of sales calls and still don't have an exact framework/methodology with 100% certainty of success. The "product EQ" is real.
