Speaking as an Asian living near the equator, I ... had no idea these things existed? Oscillating fan: tiny amount of breeze as it faces you. Vornado: basketball-sized mass air mover, no need for oscillation. *whistles*

Had one in Singapore - wasn't super effective given the higher ambient temperatures (though could've also been the way it was placed etc.) Seems more useful here where it's cooler overall, though (all our current fans are Vornados)
