Ok, this is pretty interesting.
In 2016/17, 17.4% of NZ's GDP came from their 40 biggest coops. And they employ about a quarter of the population(!)

I always thought Fonterra was an interesting aberration. I didn't realise so much of NZ's output was owned by workers!
