To be clear, there are many arguments for acting morally and doing the right thing, but this is one that doesn’t seem to get much play. (Nerds of a particular flavour might also point out: “hey, this describes the dynamics of an iterated game!”)

Replying to
English Common (UK, US, & former Commonwealth countries) which legislate bottom-up via precedents and aims for transparency is a better model than Napoleonic/Civil law, which is top-down and aims to regulate economics. Focus on transparency creates conditions for iterated games.
