Soros claimed his strength was intuition not analysis. Very few managers would ever admit this especially in an industry where process and analysis are a source of pride.

If you read Soros' bio, his investment "intuition" came from privileged access to heads of states, Finance/Economy ministers, and heads of central banks in his heyday. Since the rules around govt/public officials meeting private individuals tightened, his returns have been meh.
