In math, there’s this thing where everyone uses the word ‘trivial’, as in, “the proof for this lemma is trivial.” It drove me nuts. Years later, I learnt that in math, trivial meant a very specific thing — it meant “with no new information and a little effort” 🤯

I think there are cases where this wiki page applies (like the trivial case in induction), but "effort", as you've said, is subjective, but so is "no new information". I actually think intimidation by notation is quite common.
