I would not preclude the possibility that he dropped all/some of these books in there as head fakes.
He’s very aware of the narrative fallacy* and ironically, Bezos brought this up in Jim Collins’ Good To Great.

Oh, absolutely. I think MacKenzie Bezos wrote a review of The Everything Store, that said, basically, “I was there, you got so many things wrong” plus Stone himself points out Bezos is prone to coming up with neat narratives (“Bezosisms”) and sticking to them.
