Part of the problem of publishing new ideas is that I can already see flaws in it.
1) What’s the right level of abstraction? This can be a post-hoc rationalisation.
2) What if the paradigm you’re operating in has changed underneath you?
3) Can bottom-up reasoning sometimes work?

The core idea here is that it's tempting to take ideas from one layer of abstraction and apply them to a different layer. But it's not usually a good idea to do so.
