I honestly can’t answer that and it’s been driving me crazy.
Deliberate practice might be wrong analogy for knowledge work. Better might be chess players studying openings (so maybe also HBR case studies?) to expand pattern library, improve tacit knowledge. Say this as a trained cognitive scientist. h/t
Agreed. I have been think thinking about this in the context of composition: attentive listening of music, learning to distinguish principles and patterns is just as much practice as writing. Their application is highly context-specific.
