Thinking about this recently: decisiveness is an orthogonal quality to decision analysis, but yet contributes to overall decision quality.
We see a lot of people talking about improving decision quality through things like Bayesian thinking. Fewer talk about decisiveness.

I suppose I should elaborate.
It’s one thing to use Bayesian updating and other fancy frameworks to come to a decision.
Let’s say you decide to fire a guy, after a few of weeks of analysis.
It is quite another to actually take action. Firing is hard. You may delay for weeks.

I follow a simple heuristic. The less impact the decision has on my life, the less time I spend deciding and analyzing.
