Now that i briefly have your attention i just want to say i love your writing and your chinese businessman series is extremely relatable and gave me new insights on how i can grow my biz. Really appreciate the work you are putting out

Thank you for the kind words! 🙇‍♂️ I *should* probably return to that series soon! I think I have the beginnings of a unified theory now, which makes me very afraid of broaching the topic, because I'm probably very wrong.

Which brings us back to ‘strong opinions weakly held’ 😁 but please do, will be very interested to read that. I’m pretty sure you have read Kuok and Riady’s biography. Have you read Lim Goh Tong’s?

I’ve read all three, and I think one commonality not yet discussed in your series & you could explore is strength of their networks/networking. Kuok had known almost all malaysian pm’s, riady initially had saliem who was close to suharto, goh tong was close to mahathir as well

Agreed. I've actually been looking into the zaibatsus and the chaebols as well, because I thought the financial structures of those markets would shine a light on the conglomerates of MY and SG. Thanks for the pointer! (Now to hunt for a copy of LGT's book ...)
