I *should* probably return to that series soon! I think I have the beginnings of a unified theory now, which makes me very afraid of broaching the topic, because I'm probably very wrong.

I've read Kuok but not Riady's (though it's high on my toread). I've not heard of Lim Goh Tong! Lemme Google for it.

I’ve read all three, and I think one commonality not yet discussed in your series & you could explore is strength of their networks/networking. Kuok had known almost all malaysian pm’s, riady initially had saliem who was close to suharto, goh tong was close to mahathir as well
