I put two and two together and realised that 's essay about YouTube could be turned into a set of instrumental principles.

I later learnt that pretty much everything Oon says about using video for Judo is known, and used, in other sports.
If a foreign player discovers a new technique that is effective against Chinese ping pong players, for instance, China goes after them with video cameras.

They make recordings and study the new technique to *death*. They make sure their players can use the technique, or have counters for the technique.
Then they destroy said opponent.
The same thing happens in Judo, but as Oon says: usually it's the weak Judo nations that do it.

I find it interesting that YouTube makes it so that we're all sports coaches now. The set of practitioners doing real things on YT is so large that it's actually worth it to pick up the meta-skill of learning from video.

And we can apply that meta-skill to a lot more domains than before.
Of course, there probably will be skills that are less prominent on YouTube. Managing people is a tacit skill, and it's not filmable (I think?) But lots of other skills are.

Premise: psychiatrist does therapy sessions with Twitch streamers, broadcasts these live on Twitch.

As a result, his Twitch viewers get a) an inside look at what psych therapy is like, b) get to ask themselves the questions that Dr K poses (they call this 'AOE healing', or 'area of effect healing', c) THEY PICK UP ON THE TACIT ABILITY TO DO THERAPY.

"Actually, the Twitch chat is getting pretty good at this." And they actually are. It's insane.
The whole series is great. They talk stress, and mental illness, and problems unique to streamers like attention seeking behaviour, and performative pressure, and addiction, etc.

I wonder to what degree you can go from "Read a book about cognitive behavioural therapy" to "Just go watch Dr K's streams, you'll pick up CBT by osmosis."
The good doctor is an instructor at Harvard Medical School. How long before he assigns his streams as homework?
