Fantastic thread on the ridiculous product execution demonstrated by Apple over the last two decades. Organisationally speaking, many things have to go just right for something like this to happen. My mind boggles at the org design that was necessary for this to happen.

I would,for instance, be incredibly interested in a book or paper talking about how this is done. twitter.com/stevesi/status Probably Jobs’s reorg to have horizontal departments (software is responsible for software in ALL products) is what made this possible in the first place.

15/ It is incredibly clear that everyone at Apple puts strategy requirements above anything "local". When you wonder why there isn't more new in Notes or why Mail is missing stuff it's because supporting a multi-year strategy trumps individual teams and that's a good thing.
