Writing long-form content in Notion makes me feel like stabbing myself in the face.

That was the biggest deal breaker for me. It is a very poor writing experience. Don’t get why people rave about it.

My hot take is that none of the cool new knowledge management/note taking tools actually provide a good writing experience. Especially for long form.

Except for . Bear doesn't compete with Notion directly since it isn't meant to be used as a wiki but it works really well as a personal note-taking app. Bear's writing/organization experience is A+! The only downside is that it is locked to the Apple ecosystem.

What’s bad about the writing experience? Is it the editor itself or the fact that it’s difficult to keep your notes nearby?

Mostly the editor. When I'm writing, I nearly never have problems keeping full context + research in my head and on the page.
