Businesses that are hiring now are either
1) amazing businesses, or
2) headed by leaders who don’t understand cash flow, or
3) headed by leaders who understand cash flow, but are ridiculously optimistic, or
4) have a lot of dry powder to burn.
Am I missing out on any others?

5) is interesting. Is this happening in the US? Most if not all G-linked corporations in Singapore+Malaysia have cut back on spending/froze hiring.
6 is great. May not be great businesses, but definitely hiring.

Yes, U.S. banks are busy, a) handing out largely forgivable small business loans, notionally to keep people on payrolls and b) processing forebearance plans for all kinds of existing consumer debts. All driven by U.S. Federal legislation.
