The most annoying behaviour in startup-land is possibly 'argument by thought leadership article'. In which someone argues for some position, and, instead of working it out from the unique situation of the company, backs it up by linking to a VC/thought leader/startup blog post.

A variant of this is 'argument by Paul Graham', in which someone argues for some position and backs it up by linking to and quoting from a pg essay.

(Full disclosure: 'argument by Paul Graham' was basically me in my first startup, in the second year of university, a full decade ago. I was insufferable).

It also reveals a weakness: if you're referencing articles then that's usually a good sign you're not in sync with your people. I have had my people read books and articles to get in sync, but we have to come together as people, not as "article readers".
