The most annoying behaviour in startup-land is possibly 'argument by thought leadership article'. In which someone argues for some position, and, instead of working it out from the unique situation of the company, backs it up by linking to a VC/thought leader/startup blog post.

A variant of this is 'argument by Paul Graham', in which someone argues for some position and backs it up by linking to and quoting from a pg essay.

Advice is absolutely useful! But trying to convince teammates by quoting extensively from an article is terrible — it's not convincing, and it gets in the way of reasoning from basic principles.
