This is a 👌 example of practice advancing ahead of theory. Normally, doctors are conservative and wait for the results of double blind trials. In crisis, they’re literally going “ibuprofen seems to make people worse” “Try panadol?” “Ok works”. “Ok go tell everyone.”

That isn’t to say that they’re necessarily right. But in this case, it doesn’t seem particularly harmful to switch when possible, and the BMJ is doing its role in getting the news out. Some interesting science should follow this, once the dust settles.

Fascinating. The WHO argues against this, says it isn’t prudent to conclude ibuprofen is a bad idea.

WHO is aware of concerns on the use of #ibuprofen for the treatment of fever for people with #COVID19. We are consulting with physicians treating the patients & are not aware of reports of any negative effects, beyond the usual ones that limit its use in certain populations.
