I learnt recently that not only is it a career moat, there are whole service companies being built around it. Value prop: “hire some of our consultants, and we’ll handle your digital transformation and save you gajillions that you’re currently paying for on-prem solutions”. 2/3

It’s a services business, in the ‘grey hair’ tier (using David Maister’s terminology commoncog.com/blog/the-consu)
But I learnt this from a friend who works in one of the subsidiary funds at Temasek; they see investments in this category as call options on the rise of cloud. 3/3
