AFAIU: 1) western cuisine is pretty beige and uninspiring. 2) 'western' as done in Singapore coffee shops is not-great more due to the low cost than anything else.

Tbh my 'go to' example of NZ cuisine is "fish and chips". Probably the most culturally unique is "hangi".

I guess "popular in NZ" would count too. I never liked ANZAC biscuits. But I can't find "German/Belgium biscuits" here. Nor things like gingernuts, lamingtons.

I knew them as "Belgium biscuits". Apparently they used to be called German biscuits until WWII.

Sadly, it's a myth that due to timezones, NZ declared war on Nazi Germany before Britain did.

Lamington = once sponge cake has gone dry, then cut it up + dip it in icing, dessicated coconut. It's great.

Shephard's pie is also a dish I haven't seen outside of NZ. ... It's beef mince (+ carrot/celery/onion) with mashed potato on top.

Fairy Bread = white bread + margarine/butter + rainbow sprinkles
