Think I've got a better phrase for this, thanks to and : 'novel perspectives'. Or, as Shawn puts it: "I won't call something an insight until it's proven to be true."

I think, for certain types of people, we like novel ideas because we think insight indicates truth (or at least, a competitive edge).
But insight and truth are really two independent qualities.
