I think, for certain types of people, we like novel ideas because we think insight indicates truth (or at least, a competitive edge).
But insight and truth are really two independent qualities.

I think that’s a rationalisation, some people are just more into new ideas than others. A different issue is what are the feedback loops that increase curiosity, and which of those do you consciously observe?

That’s fair. To riff off your observation about curiosity feedback loops — I find myself tamping down on curiosity instead of encouraging it sometimes. Too much curiosity can be bad(?)

I’m definitely trying to tone things down, and distinguish between deep exploration of new concepts and consuming a stream of shiny facts. Your blog has ironically been very helpful in formulating the distinction and motivation :)
