Just had a discussion with a scientist friend about this. “You can hide flaws in papers. It’s difficult but possible. It’s even easier to do so in paper presentations.” “This is a paper presentation.” The flaw here is n=18.

Cannot tell if u mean the thread form makes it easier to hide flaws? For the non scientists of us, what’s the difference between paper and paper presentations?

Yes, the thread form makes it easier to hide flaws. Papers are written defensively. Authors present flaws alongside ideas. Presentations are not and do not do so. In ^ thread, note how author doesn't qualify with "may show" or "it does seem like", and "preliminary results".

I really enjoy ur explanation of that. If u have the chance u shd consider writing abt how to read scientific papers. Given ever increasing amount of info put out, it’s an important skill set knowing how to soft the chaff from the wheat
