Wanted: a word for when an external lib’s webpage is too pretty, and this makes you suspicious that the software itself isn’t very good.

The worse the design webpage, the more obvious the dev wrote it themselves.

That was my thinking exactly. It’s either the library isn’t very large, and the dev could build out the page with fancy animations and so on, or it’s a funded startup and the lib is just a ploy to use their closed wall services.
