No one wants to admit it, but the old “your product must be 10x better than existing solutions” trope is dead. Tech’s baseline is too high, the big players too entrenched, and you’d be lucky to see 1.5-2x improvements these days.

I think this is one of the most hostile times for startups that we’ve had, really. Products are better, competition is enormous (with way deeper pockets to cop your employees), VC’s bailing on early stage, housing markets in cities are fucked, and exit options are limited.
