Not at all proven, but for now, it's worth watching. The experiment is likely to keep living, since it's 100% open source + open protocols (ActivityPub)

Off the top of my head:
You can restrict the degree to which your post spreads. (Local only, followers only, federated).
Confirmation bias and silo-ism is like small forums: much better than outrage spirals, which slowly converts more of the network to outrage machines.
