Question: why did DigitalOcean succeed despite the existence of AWS? Can it continue to with severe competition in the present?

Price/performance ratio, simplicity -> gentler learning curve. But really I think they won because they were amongst the first on the market with SSDs and they gave away lots of credits in the first few years. Free stuff captures dev mind share pretty quickly!
