A few years ago, on a cloudy day, told me he wanted to work with Hopfield nets. I got immediately excited, but didn't think I would like the result so much! Preprint is out (with ):

just pointed out to me that I referred to my own work as "amazing". I do think it is amazing, don't get me wrong, but I must say I didn't realise it sounded a bit weird haha Slowly getting used to twitter :)

Here’s a little reading for a lazy morning between the years. - How can 'attention' (modulation) affect neural responses?

Here's a quick story about how response curves can change w/ activity of co- and counter-tuned (or flat) inhibition, i.e. not robust to context, even w/ fixed input tuning. Agree with and wrt meaning of single-cell tuning.🤷🏽‍♂️

New preprint out! Can two distinct inhibitory weight profiles control the response of a neuron, making it switch from untuned activation to responding to different stimuli? Can these weights emerge via plasticity? To find out:

The Imbizo takes place in Muizenberg Beach, South Africa 🇿🇦 , about 60km south of Cape Town. It is considered to be the birthplace of surfing 🏄‍♀️ in South Africa. It shall also become the birthplace of Computational Neuroscience 🧠 in Africa 🌍 Apply now:

Last week, 30% of the budget of Brazilian federal universities (including most top institutions) was cut. Yesterday we learned that many PhD/master's fellowships supposed to start soon were cancelled, affecting hundreds of grad students. Disastrous news for Brazilian science

A Nature study finds that sleep deprivation in Drosophila elevates reactive oxygen species in sleep-promoting neurons, leading to changes in potassium currents and spiking activity – thereby connecting energy metabolism, oxidative stress, and sleep.

Here is a crazy little story about how oxygen changes your potassium channel conductance, and then puts you to sleep. Welcome to twitter and congrats
