More focus on kids vs sex among younger people. Bimodal wealth distribution due to different sub-populations having 1 vs 3 kids. Not sure what else.

Uh... are these really evolutionary changes? They just seem like cultural shifts.

Yes, to a large extent those are genetic, and culture shifts can be driven by aggregate changes in the gene pool.

Sounds wrong but ok ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I need some reasonable proof that "focus on kids vs sex among young people" and "bimodal wealth distribution" are actually **caused** by genetics and not just correlated (due to historical cultural effects) before I accept it as truth.

And the vibe I get is that obtaining evidence for these kinds of causal claims about genetics... takes many generations and some well-designed studies. Without that, the argument boils down to which of us believes harder that we're correct.

But hey, I'm open to changing my viewpoint based on empirical evidence. Send me your genetics studies and I'll read them.

I think it's cultural and probably unrelated to genetics, but I don't see why the distinction is relevant. The effect is the same: we're going back to farmer values

The distinction between cultural causation and genetic causation is Very Important, because the latter is abused so often. It's common for people to start talking about genetics and then leap into talking about ethics without realizing it. Very fun and scary to watch.

culture is simply the name we give to the _e_es we are obliged to replicate together
