but if your system is meant to be eternal and encompassing, and it does break down at the edges . . . maybe the center's not long for the world either that doesn't mean it's not a useful system im gonna use newtonian mechanics in everyday life even though it's "wrong"

The problem of "wrong systems" is addressed in different ways by "Elephant in the Brain", by samzdat's Uruk Series, and by Sarah on ribbonfarm. Some "wrong" systems claim to satisfy certain needs, but actually satisfy different ones than claimed. Seehttps://samzdat.com/2017/06/19/the-use-and-abuse-of-witchdoctors-for-life/ …

then I don't know what thing you're referring to, because postrationalists are mostly interested in discussing psychology/cognition and not ontology

I disagree. I think David's work discusses ontology all over the place. He lists Dreyfus and Heidegger as important influences and has an extensive background with Buddhist thought. If the boundaries between ontology and psychology begin to blur, it's because they're blurry.

One of the core insights that the whole framework seeks to develop more fully is the fact that we reason about the contents of our mind, which is a representation of reality. Understanding the mechanisms of cognition allows us to see what is generating the representation.
