One of my BiLs was presumably shocked to learn he's ~25% ashkenazi (paternally) following 23andme test....even though his surname at least hints at that.

per 23andMe I'm about 10%, which matches neatly with 1/8 expected after patrilineal great-grandfather's (and grandfather's, and father's) marriage to non-Jews
