i wholeheartedly agree re the merit of saying obviously true things the criticism the article levels is that the obviously true things he says are delivered along with a load of gobbledegook, which stuns people into thinking he is smarter than he is. (cont'd)
-
but like ok that's also a criticism that you can make (and jbp makes) of the pomo left, he's the enemy they deserve
-
huh? he's an enemy? ppl on the far right seem to hate jbp more for *not* hating jews than ppl on the left hate him for occasionally saying dumb things
-
i think there r interesting convos to be had about his relation to the (alt?) far right (imo he's politically quite moderate so it makes sense that they'd hate him) but this article doesn't touch on that, it's more about how he is received by the mainstream
-
that's because he's willing to associate with dipshits like crowder and molyneux and loves attention, neither of which are good his politics and philosophy are actually pretty boring (which isn't a criticism)

a lot of this essay is "jorbadn petadsrn is not signalling being smart so hes probably dumb" while I agree that hes probably dumb im not convinced of the value of such signaling
-
it's not that at all rly! the essay says he is successful at signalling smartness, i mean the third para is basically a list of famous smart people and various media saying how smart and visionary he is.
-
I see the article rather as an indictment of the public’s intelligence, not Peterson’s.
-
yes, he definitely displays great intelligence in that way that he has been able to play so many people
