It's gotta be aggravating for econometricians to make all these astounding advances and corrections and for 99% of the applied world to ignore them entirely until a big name uses them first and also there's an easy package to apply them

The incentives are all wrong for it to correct itself. The only hope is that most econometric corrections are usually unnecessary.

My guess is the baseline is usually bad enough that refinements on the margin won't matter :D
