I can imagine. I gave up on my PhD for similar reasons (also I lost interest in doing research).

I guess. In my field (comp sci) Master’s degrees actually pay better than PhDs (industry vs academia) so it wasn’t a hardship.

I would guess that econometric/data-sciency stuff like you’re doing prepares you for a variety of different types of jobs.
