I feel this way about some other Ideological figures I wonder how much of it is the responsibility of my once-close Enragés, tho, you knowhttps://twitter.com/WardQNormal/status/865286989888708612 …

How far do we condemn Cassius for Brutus' betrayal? And yikes does the meaning of the 'fault in our stars' line get twisty in this context

I'd say tempter -- tempted starts from good position / is redeemable. Tempter is assumed evil by nature. Garden of Eden as metaphor for all.
-
hmm hmmmmmm so what's the blame ratio tho because we do get pissed off at human sinners for being dicks
-
We do, but we don't consider them inherently evil the way we do the tempter. Maybe why we're more mad at tempted for sinning?
-
maybe! I think important to see both tempter and tempted as human in this context, like the snake is something else + treated differently?
-
I was actually thinking of classic seductress memes.
-
hmmmMMmm maybe the tempted is worse here? s/he's given a promise, seductress hasn't (?)

traditional canon: the tempted knowingly sinned because free will head-canon: blame must fall on the ultimate cause - God
-
synthesis: god sacrificed his goodness by giving us free will
-
possible implication: god now bad and must be destroyed
-
or we could become good, justifying our freedom of will
