I don't know what the answer is. How do we truly serve justice if the loopholes are so large?
@ndotsimons Pay jurors *lots*. Would have side effect of making trial even less-appealing to gov't, effects of that seem ambiguous

@aspasia_project Idk what you mean by less appealing to govt: i.e., they would settle more? 90% of cases already settled before trial.

@ndotsimons they might be more eager to settle, but also increases incentive to rewrite laws to reduce defendants' pretrial leverage

@aspasia_project also, paying juries more money would have the possible effect of people lying to get onto juries, esp if unemployed.

@ndotsimons I think still an improvement on baseline (where "best" get out of service) but could reduce this by indexing pay to outside wage
