Sure can be! But it matters nonetheless, and just because it's gauche to signal the earnest desire too loudly doesn't make it, you know, wrong to want or even to be deliberate about? (Which is not the same as, e.g, dehumanizing potential partners, or feeling entitled.)

Yes. Wife and I, at the beginning, had a discussion where I informed her that I was dating to find a wife to start a family with. If the relationship ever became one that clearly did not lead there, it would be over. Honestly think it saved us both a lot of trouble.

I told my wife I wanted to get married and have at least 4 kids and to start within one year, on our second date. Kid #1 due any day now.
