It’s a point of criticism because it is essentially a belief system that proclaims to not be grounded in being a belief system. It is more of a cult. The label of “like a religion” deals more with people wanting a word for the blind faith and force of others inherent to it.

I think religions that are unbound by ritual are dangerous but no idea if that's the direction he goes in.
"It's a religion" encapsulates why enforcing it is so deeply offensive though. It's not just the demands for behavior, it's the demands that you believe it in your heart and cleave to it.
It's not bad because it's a religion. There are good religions. Wokeism isn't one of them.
