realistically zero chance we build new nuclear in GER unfortunately At the same time we're closing down coal power plants, slowly but surely So what will be left is essentially wind/solar, some bio energy, and nat gas with nuclear being retired as well, nat gas demand will go

up significantly in the base case shitty situation, but can't really do anything about it the smart way given the political realities so to fight this, top priorities should imo be: subsidize heat pumps like our life depends on it (it does) build out LPG import capacity,

to get more alternative supply routes build out nat gas storage capacity, and strengthen grid interconnectors nat gas demand must be pushed as low as possible, and import capacity for non russian gas must go up significantly

otherwise we're just even more beholden to putin than right now, if that's even possible a sprinkle of nuclear would really help matters, but apparently we'd rather sit in the dark rather than admit that the Atomausstieg was a bad idea

yep btw, just while all this is happening we're shutting down half our remaining nuclear fleet at the end of the year one would think that pushing this out would be prudent in an acute energy crisis, but what do i knowhttps://twitter.com/idontwa86202030/status/1447641403287379969?s=20 …

i don't really follow public opinion that much, so poor sense for that, but my impression is def that nuclear has been making a comeback in elite circles, and the american public at large too iirc german public is stubbornly opposed though afaics
