Not sure it's structurally possible given the state of the right at the moment. Huge amounts of their voters have been radicalized, they live in a separate media ecosystem, they are going to reward loyalty to the cause and end up electing some weirdos in their primaries.

I think if they were like 15% less radicalized then you'd be correct. But there are a lot of them and they hate being asked to pretend they don't exists (all drama queens of course).
