There really aren’t many shape-rotators compared to the number of bleedy heart school teachers, social workers, baristas, yoga instructors, and other assorted old hippies holding on to the run-down million dollar plus shacks they or their parents bought for one tenth of that.

The “shape rotators” did what “shape rotators” always have — their jobs. They’re role players. They occupy the same socio-ecological niche as the white-collar professionals whose jobs they automated away. Whatever status these people enjoy is a short-run economic phenomenon.
