Got family connections in Pharma. Dog testing is generally considered scientifically unnecessary, for most issues they're worse human equivalents than others, but the FDA keeps requiring dog studies for some drugs even when alternatives would be better.

They've got weird stomachs that make oral medications not work properly, so sometimes dog trials will just fuck up the data. People know this, but the FDA still keeps asking for them...
