And we are lucky you aren't the messenger on the topic. Unfortunately the actual govt messengers on the topic are worse.

I mean, the Godofskies have never pretended to be the people to do communications with the common man, or whatever. I am fine with the idea that my beliefs stated truthfully will be resisted by a bunch of people. That's fine.

However the other thing is that frankly the messaging to the skeptical people we're talking about is a lot less important than the messaging to eg OSHA, the Biden admin, and corporate executives. If the people with power are actually doing the thing I want them to do, OK.

The *general* feature of the world in which grassroots libertarian resistance to (some) top-down impositions is ineffective may be bad or whatever, but it's not really up for negotiation right now and it's not even the focus of the current libertarian objections. So shruggie.

The most convincing counterargument, to me, involves some kind of prediction re: the mid-term political future of existing vaccine mandates (ie Republicans start repealing them). I'm open to such an argument but somewhat dubious that it actually succeeds.

"the mid-term political future of existing vaccine mandates" imo the ball game is, 'by the time window for any real enforcement opens (after mid-terms, prob next yr considering courts), vax rates will be shown to be 'high enough' pols will pat selves on back, call it success...

... then 'relax' w/e rule-making they'd justified under emergency powers rather than defend them long-term basically its mostly for show imo; and OSHA saying they're relying on 'whistleblowers' for any action suggests they're currently disinterested...https://twitter.com/Bugs_Meany/status/1436488615228583938 …

Recently Converted Ronanist @Bugs_Meanyi think the net-net of the "Mandate" outrage is going to be kind of a fart in the wind by the time 75-day grace period ends, and OSHA lawsuits go through courts, many many more ppl will be vaxxed and admin will declare success even if rules are never materially enforced pic.twitter.com/tJpnxHC2AYShow this thread2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

the secret of the OSHA mandate is that employers want to mandate the vaccine anyway and weren't sure they could do it, this gives them air cover and also makes sure staff don't hop around to an employer that doesn't require it.

my father does employee benefits law and probably 3/4 of his clients were asking "how can we make our employees get the vaccine, what can we do, up to and including strapping them down and jabbing them"
