I think if there's a demand for a good or service that for some reason government agencies are uniquely positioned to provide and there isn't a good reason for them to provide it they should, as if they were a private a business. Ie they should charge admin fees

You mean the data? Isn't some of that public information anyway? I think there are good reasons for some things to be considered private information and other things to be considered public, which need to be routinely reviewed as more of our lives become legible

Well then you have to question whether the government has any business knowing it in the first place? But for things like 'there were 1480 people residing at this postcode' or 'total income was $20 trillion' or information that private individuals...

I need to read that book. That's kind of like wanting government officials to have one hand tied behind their back, there are good reasons for it, but those reasons are kind of beyond the bounds of normal policy discussions, like opposing all but the most inefficient of taxes

i would support funding government exclusively through the most efficient tax as a matter of novelty
